Product

What is Camwarden?
Camwarden is a cloud-based trail camera management platform that automatically analyses your photos using AI. Photos from any camera brand flow in via email or manual upload, get scanned for animals, people, and vehicles, and are organised by location and team — giving you a clear, searchable record of activity across your property.
How do I get photos into Camwarden?
There are two ways. Email ingestion: if your camera supports email notifications, point it at your unique Camwarden address and photos arrive automatically. Manual upload: drag and drop photos from your SD card via the web interface, including bulk uploads of existing archives.
Can I share access with my hunting partners or team?
Yes. You can invite as many team members as your plan allows, each with their own login. Role-based access control lets you assign each person as owner, admin, member, or view-only — no shared passwords, no ambiguity over who can do what.
Can I use Camwarden for security monitoring, not just wildlife?
Yes. While Camwarden is designed with wildlife monitoring in mind, the platform works equally well for construction site monitoring, farm security, and any other context where trail cameras are deployed. The AI detection categories — animal, person, and vehicle — are universally useful.

Camera Compatibility

Which trail camera brands work with Camwarden?
All of them. Camwarden works with any trail camera regardless of brand. If your camera sends email notifications, photos arrive automatically. If it uses an SD card, you upload directly via the web interface. No proprietary hardware, no vendor tie-in.
Do I need a cellular plan or special hardware?
No. Camwarden supports both cellular cameras (via email ingestion) and offline cameras (via SD card upload). There's no required hardware or accessories — just use the cameras you already own.

Cameras with their own apps

Does Camwarden work with Spypoint cameras?
Spypoint cameras transmit photos only to the Spypoint app — they don't send photos by email, so they can't be ingested by Camwarden automatically. You can still use Camwarden alongside Spypoint. Photos can be exported from the Spypoint app and uploaded to Camwarden via SD card import in the web interface. This gives you Spypoint's cellular transmission for the cameras themselves, plus Camwarden's AI species detection, multi-location organisation, team sharing, and EU-based archival on top. If your fleet also includes cameras from other brands, those can ingest into Camwarden directly via email or SD card upload — letting you keep all your photos in one place regardless of which camera they came from.
Does Camwarden work with Zeiss Secacam cameras?
Zeiss Secacam cameras transmit photos to the Zeiss Secacam app and don't send photos by email, so they can't be ingested by Camwarden automatically. You can still use Camwarden alongside Zeiss Secacam by exporting photos from the Zeiss app and uploading them to Camwarden via SD card import. This adds Camwarden's AI species detection, multi-location organisation, team sharing, and archival to your existing setup. If you have cameras from other brands as well, those can ingest into Camwarden directly — Zeiss cameras handled through manual upload, others handled automatically.
My trail camera is tied to its own vendor app — can I still use Camwarden?
Yes. Some cellular trail cameras transmit only to their manufacturer's app and don't support email forwarding. Cameras of this type can still be used with Camwarden by exporting photos from the vendor app and uploading them to Camwarden via the web interface. The vendor app continues to handle the camera itself; Camwarden adds AI species detection, multi-location organisation, team sharing, and EU-based archival across your photos — including photos from other cameras you might own that ingest automatically.
Does Camwarden replace my existing trail camera app?
Camwarden doesn't replace cellular transmission services from camera manufacturers. If your camera transmits to a vendor app, that connection stays in place — Camwarden sits alongside it as a photo management layer. For cameras that send photos by email or that you upload from SD card, Camwarden can be the only tool you use. For cameras tied to vendor apps, Camwarden complements them rather than replaces them.
Can I have cameras from different vendors in the same Camwarden account?
Yes. A single Camwarden account can hold photos from any number of cameras and any number of brands. Cameras that send photos by email arrive via your unique Camwarden ingest address. Cameras that store photos to SD cards or that transmit to a vendor app are uploaded via the web interface. All photos — regardless of source — are organised together, run through AI species detection, and accessible to your team based on the permissions you set.

AI Detection

How does the AI wildlife detection work?
Camwarden uses MegaDetector to detect the presence and location of animals, people, and vehicles in each photo. Detected animals are then passed to SpeciesNet for species classification. Both models run on private GPU infrastructure, so your images are never sent to third-party AI services.
Which species can Camwarden identify?
Camwarden can classify hundreds of species common across Europe and North America — including deer, fox, badger, wild boar, hare, and many more. You can filter your photo library by species and view detection confidence scores to gauge reliability on a per-photo basis.
How accurate is the AI detection?
In good conditions, animal detection consistently exceeds 90% accuracy. Species classification is generally reliable for common species but may be less certain with rare species or subjects that are very small in the frame. Every detection includes a confidence score so you can judge reliability yourself.

Pricing

Is Camwarden free to use?
Yes. Camwarden has a free tier you can start using immediately — no credit card required. The free tier includes a monthly photo allowance with AI detection included. Paid plans with higher limits are available for more demanding use cases.
What happens when I reach my photo limit?
When you reach your monthly photo limit, new uploads are paused until the next billing period or until you upgrade your plan. All your existing photos, detections, and data remain fully accessible.

Privacy & Data

Where is my data stored? Is it secure?
Your photos and data are stored on EU-based infrastructure. Camwarden is operated by CMP IT ApS, based in Denmark, and built to comply with GDPR and EU data protection standards. Your images are never shared with third parties.
Is Camwarden GDPR compliant?
Yes. Camwarden is built to comply with GDPR from the ground up. You can export or permanently delete your data at any time. For privacy-related enquiries or data subject access requests, contact [email protected] and we will respond within the timeframes required by law.
